    • 自分の決めたことにしっかり留まる stay firm (/ immovable) in one’s principles; आफ्नो सिद्धान्तमा अडिग (/ अटर / स्थिर / कायम) रहनु ; आफ्नो सिद्धान्तभित्रै रहनु
    • 忍耐なしにここに留まることはできない Without endurance, we cannot stay here. धैर्यबिना यसमा हामी टिकिरहन असम्भव छ ।
    • 彼は現職に留まることにした He has decided to remain in his present office. उसले हालको पदमा अझै कायम (/ स्थिर / अडिग) हुने निधो गऱ्यो ।
    • 彼はビルマに留まっている間一生懸命勉強した He studied hard while he stayed in Burma. बर्मामा रहँदा बस्दा उनले कडा मेहनतसाथ पढे ।
  • 3〔ある範囲に限る〕
    • 協議は問題点を挙げるに留まった The conference did no more than point out some problems.; The conference confined itself to listing some points at issue. छलफल समस्या के–के हुन् भनी सूचीबद्ध गरेको मात्र भयो ।
    • 離婚率の上昇は留まることを知らない Divorce rates are spiraling out of control. सम्बन्ध विच्छेद गर्नेहरूको सँख्या आकासिँदो छ ।
